Travelling to Bali is one of my favourites, irrespective of the location you choose on the island.

There are so many amazing places though, some that stand out more than others and simply make you feel like you have discovered heaven on earth.

Besides my beloved Canggu, one of these places is Seminyak. When you are tired of all the craziness that staying in Kuta has to offer, Seminyak is the place to be.

But, what can you see, eat and do in the style-mecca of Seminyak? Is it as fun at night as its neighbours Kuta and Legian?

I have long looked for a travel guide to Seminyak where I could find everything about the incredible shopping opportunities, luxurious hotels, and trendy cafes.

As I still couldn't find all the Seminyak travel tips, I decided to create an ultimate guide myself, thus making sure that you don’t miss a thing on your next Bali trip there.

I love my readers so no need to thank me, just read, book your flight, hotel.. and enjoy!

The Best Time To Visit Seminyak

There’s no such thing like the best time to visit Bali. But I can tell you the busiest time is around Christmas and New Years, if you want to avoid the crowds, you now know when to not book.

You can go to Seminyak during the entire year, and I can guarantee that you won’t regret your decision. The average temperature here doesn’t register any major modifications. They are tropical all year round.

Seminyak Bali Things to do

If you are the type of traveller who isn't too keen on dry heat, avoid the hottest months between May and September.

Wet season is between October to April. Monsoon just refers to the wind there and even though it rains a fair bit during those months, you'll still get clear and sunny days in-between to lie at the beach and be outdoors.

And if it rains, it's never for too long anyways. Considering that in most parts of the globe the weather is cold during this period anyways, Seminyak can be an excellent choice when you want to escape from the snow and cold temperatures.

Orientation & Getting Around Seminyak

My travel guide to Seminyak continues with a few orientation details, which is absolutely crucial when you visit a foreign country, right?

Seminyak is located on the western coast of Bali, just north of the infamous town of Kuta and Legian. You can get to Canggu in just under 20 minutes by taxi. Ubud is also not so far, at approximately 1 hour and a half away.

The airport is roughly a 30-minute ride, if traffic is on your side. If you feel unsure, you can book a private airport transfer to pick you up.

If you want to go to Seminyak from other towns around Bali, then taxi or Uber is probably the smartest choice.

Where To Shop In Seminyak

I couldn’t consider my Seminyak travel guide complete unless I talk about the incredible shopping gems you can find around Seminyak.

Designer boutiques, famous brands outlets, and international surf shops, all these and more can be found along the streets of Seminyak.

Jalan Raya Seminyak road can be considered the epicentre of small boutiques. Jalan Kayu Aya road and some corners along Jalan Petitenget complete the list of the most fashionable boutiques.

You can find authentic jewellery pieces at the House of Jemme, combining a restaurant with a beautiful showroom or in Tulola Jewellery. Homeware items can be bought from Hobo, Mercredi or Kody & Ko, located on the side roads in Seminyak.

And, if you want to buy a piece of tropical clothing, literally every second shop will have something for you.

Seminyak is shopping heaven!

Getting Around Seminyak

I consider that there is no better way to get to know Seminyak than going for a walk. Walking is the best option during cool nights, otherwise, when the sun is too hot, or you plan to go far, then you can simply catch a taxi or a tuk-tuk.

Ask for the services of BlueBird taxi as they are honest and safe and you'll get anywhere you want at a fair price. On the other hand, you can ask your concierge at the hotel for a shuttle or private car.

If you prefer a bit more adventure and feel confident, then renting a scooter for a small fee is the Bali way of life!

Things To Do In Seminyak

Seminyak surfing lessons
Diving in Bali

When you visit Bali and stay close to the beach, one of the obvious things to do is going to the beach. Spend your day swimming or getting a tan. If you want to go out of your comfort zone, you can also try scuba diving or surfing.

If you wonder if there are any sights to visit in Seminyak, the answer is yes. Petitenget Temple is the cultural landmark in this area and definitely a must-see if you want to learn more about the traditional Indo culture. Make sure you dress appropriately!

Pay a visit to Nyaman Gallery and check the contemporary art pieces created by local designers.

Or, if you are not so much into art but want to get out and about, you can enjoy a horse-riding session along the beach with a professional guide.

Finally, relax at a yoga class and find your interior peace.

Where To Eat, Drink Good Coffee & Find Wifi In Seminyak

There’s no need to say that Seminyak is the place where you can find incredible restaurants and bars.

Below are some of my favourite spots you have to check out:

  • Motel Mexicola – It has everything it needs to offer you a complete Mexican culinary experience. Here you will find authentic Mexican dishes, made of the freshest ingredients. Just thinking of their quesadillas, tacos, or antojitos, makes my mouth water.
  • La Lucciola – I cannot imagine how my Sunday brunch would look like if this place didn’t exist. It’s hard to recommend a particular dish, as everything is simply delicious. You can try the omelette with caponata and mushrooms and you will come back for more.
  • Barbacoa Bali – This is the place where you can enjoy local Latin American dishes. The chefs here use various cooking methods for their food. Try the 8 hours wood fired asado pork and you will thank me later for this recommendation.
  • Watercress Café – It has taken coffee to a totally different level. They take their business seriously using 100% Arabica from Colombia, Ethiopia, Brazil, and Uganda. Beware as the coffee here becomes addictive.
  • Sea Circus – Cheap and tasty Mexican food. It won’t disappoint you if you go for drinks also. And when it comes to desserts, you need to try the snickers cheesecake.
  • Sea Vu – From here, you will hear the tales of the sea while having one of the best dinners in town. Their signature dish, the Braised Lamb Shank, will make you note down the day you decided to enter this restaurant.
  • Sisterfields Café – Get ready to wait in line if you go for a coffee in Sisterfields Café. This is one of the prettiest places I have ever seen, and the taste of their coffee has no comparison so far.
  • Revolver Espresso – Even though it is not very easy to find, Revolver Espresso will make every minute worth. They offer great coffee, delicious sandwiches, and yummy salads.
  • The Fat Turtle – If you are looking for one of the best breakfasts in town, then this is the place. The wifi is also good here. So, you don’t have any excuses but to try their Eggs Benedict while you surf on the internet looking for new adventures.
  • Café Kim Soo – It is impossible to resist to the handmade cakes at Café Kim Soo. The Lemon Pound Cake or the Choc Coconut Slice will make you think that you stepped in heaven.

Where To Find The Best Sundowner And Party In Seminyak

Nothing compares to the sunsets in Seminyak. The sky offers a fantastic show almost every evening, with different shades of pink, orange and lilac.

If you too want to witness one of Seminyak’s memorable sunsets, there is no better place than the cocktail bars right at the beach where you can share your story with other travellers, locals or simply enjoy in peaceful solitude.

  • Woo Bar – If you like mojitos, then Woo Bar has exactly what you need. Every evening, at 4 pm, travellers from all around the world, gather on the poolside deck for party vibes and signature cocktails.
  • Alila Seminyak – As I am talking about signature cocktails, Alila Hotel has everything you need for an unforgettable sunset. My recommendation is to start with their Coco Django cocktail which will help you enter the party mood. Alila is known to be one of those places where people come for a small drink and they end up partying until the morning.
  • Ku De Ta – When you go to Seminyak, Ku De Ta is the place where you need to check in. This stylish bar located right on the beach, is known for hosting incredible parties, day and night time! The moment you enter here, you will see how Ku De Ta will mesmerise you with its list of cocktails and party mood. It's classy and tends to attract that sort of crowd too.
  • Potato Head – Ku De Ta had to have a rival for the title of the most popular beach bar. The infinite pool has witnessed many epic dance parties, with international DJs acting all night long. And if I were to talk about cocktails, I haven’t tasted anything better than those at Potato Head Bar or Kaum Bar. Great for the younger crowd.
