The Ultimate Seminyak Travel Guide: ALL You Need to Know
Travelling to Bali is one of my favourites, no matter the location you choose on the island. Being one of the closest tropical holiday destinations to my home base on the Gold Coast, Australia, I frequent the island often.
When you are tired of all the parties when staying in Kuta, and Canggu is a little too surfy and young, simply choose the place that's located in between: Seminyak.
As I couldn't find all the Seminyak travel tips, I decided to create an ultimate guide myself, thus making sure that you don’t miss a thing on your next Bali trip there. I'll tell you everything there is to see & do, where to eat, its nightlife, shopping opportunities, trendy cafes as well as luxurious hotels.
Best Time To Visit Seminyak
There’s no such thing as the best time to visit Bali. The best time to visit Seminyak, Bali, is during the dry season from April to October. Expect sunny days, lower humidity, and ideal beach conditions. The average temperature is tropical all year round.
For fewer crowds and better prices, consider visiting in April, May, June, or September.
It's also busy around Christmas and New Year's, if you want to avoid the crowds, you now know when to not book.

The wet season is between October to April. Monsoon just refers to the wind there and even though it rains a fair bit during those months, you'll still get clear and sunny days in between to lie at the beach and be outdoors. And if it rains, it's never for too long anyway.
Considering that in the Northern parts of the globe, the weather is cold during this period anyway, Seminyak can be an excellent choice when you want to escape from the snow and cold temperatures.
Orientation & Getting Around Seminyak
Seminyak is located on the western coast of Bali, just north of the towns of Kuta and Legian. You can reach Canggu in just under 20 minutes by taxi. Ubud is also not so far, at approximately 1 hour and a half away, depending on traffic.
The airport is roughly a 30 to 45-minute ride if traffic is on your side. I recommend you book a private airport transfer to pick you up.
If you want to go to Seminyak from other towns around Bali, then a taxi or GoJek is probably the smartest choice.
Where To Shop In Seminyak
I couldn’t consider my Seminyak travel guide complete unless I told you about the incredible shopping gems you can find around Seminyak. From designer boutiques, famous brand outlets, and international surf shops and more can be found along the streets of Seminyak.
Jalan Raya Seminyak can be considered the epicenter of small boutiques. Jalan Kayu Aya and some corners along Jalan Petitenget complete the list of the most fashionable boutiques.
You can find authentic jewellery pieces at Jemme, combining a restaurant with a beautiful showroom or visit Tulola Jewellery. Homeware items can be bought from Toko, Mercredi or Kim Soo, located on the side roads in Seminyak.
And, if you want to buy a piece of tropical clothing, literally every second shop will have something for you. Seminyak is shopping heaven!
If you're after a shopping mall, Seminyak has got some too:
- Seminyak Square: A popular shopping center with a variety of fashion, accessories, and dining options.
- Seminyak Village: A modern mall featuring international and local brands, cafes, and a rooftop garden.
Getting Around Seminyak
There is no better way to get to know Seminyak than going for a walk. Walking is the best option during cool nights, otherwise, when the sun is too hot, or you plan to go far, then you can simply catch a taxi or order a scooter on GoJek (always wear a helmet!).
Blue Bird Taxi are honest and safe and you'll get anywhere you want at a fair price. On the other hand, you can also ask your concierge at the hotel for a shuttle or private car.
If you prefer to drive yourself and feel confident, then renting a scooter for a small fee is the Bali way of life!

Where To Eat & Get Good Coffee In Seminyak
There’s no need to say that Seminyak is the place where you can find incredible restaurants and bars.
Below are some of my favourite spots you have to check out:
- Motel Mexicola – It has everything it needs to offer you a complete Mexican culinary experience. Here you will find authentic Mexican dishes, made of the freshest ingredients. Just thinking of their quesadillas, tacos, or antojitos, makes my mouth water.
- La Lucciola – I cannot imagine how my Sunday brunch would look like if this place didn’t exist. It’s hard to recommend a particular dish, as everything is simply delicious. You can try the omelette with caponata and mushrooms and you will come back for more.
- Barbacoa Bali – This is the place where you can enjoy local Latin American dishes. The chefs here use various cooking methods for their food. Try the 8 hours wood-fired asado pork and you will thank me later for this recommendation.
- Watercress Café – It has taken coffee to a totally different level. They take their business seriously using 100% Arabica from Colombia, Ethiopia, Brazil, and Uganda. Beware as the coffee here becomes addictive.
- Sea Circus – Cheap and tasty Mexican food. It won’t disappoint you if you go for drinks also. And when it comes to desserts, you need to try the snickers cheesecake.
- Sea Vu – From here, you will hear the tales of the sea while having one of the best dinners in town. Their signature dish, the Braised Lamb Shank, will make you note down the day you decide to enter this restaurant.
- Sisterfields Café – Get ready to wait in line if you go for a coffee in Sisterfields Café. This is one of the prettiest places I have ever seen, and the taste of their coffee has no comparison so far.
- Revolver Espresso – Even though it is not very easy to find, Revolver Espresso will make every minute worth it. They offer great coffee, delicious sandwiches, and yummy salads.
- The Fat Turtle – If you are looking for one of the best breakfasts in town, then this is the place. The wifi is also good here. So, you don’t have any excuses but to try their Eggs Benedict while you surf on the internet looking for new adventures.
- Café Kim Soo – It is impossible to resist to the handmade cakes at Café Kim Soo. The Lemon Pound Cake or the Choc Coconut Slice will make you think that you stepped into heaven.
Where To Watch the Sunset & Nightlife In Seminyak
Nothing compares to the sunsets in Seminyak. The sky offers a fantastic show almost every evening, with different shades of pink, orange and lilac.
If you too want to witness one of Seminyak’s memorable sunsets, there is no better place than the cocktail bars at the beach. Or head to one of the popular beach clubs.
- Woo Bar – If you like mojitos, then Woo Bar has exactly what you need. Every evening, at 4 pm, travellers from all around the world, gather on the poolside deck for party vibes and signature cocktails.
- Alila Seminyak – As I am talking about signature cocktails, Alila Hotel has everything you need for an unforgettable sunset. My recommendation is to start with their Coco Django cocktail which will help you enter the party mood. Alila is known to be one of those places where people come for a small drink and they end up partying until the morning.
- Ku De Ta – When you go to Seminyak, Ku De Ta is the place where you need to check-in. This stylish bar located right on the beach, is known for hosting incredible parties, day and night time! The moment you enter here, you will see how Ku De Ta will mesmerise you with its list of cocktails and party moods. It's classy and tends to attract that sort of crowd too.
- Potato Head – Ku De Ta had to have a rival for the title of the most popular beach bar. The infinite pool has witnessed many epic dance parties, with international DJs acting all night long. And if I were to talk about cocktails, I haven’t tasted anything better than those at Potato Head Bar or Kaum Bar. Great for the younger crowd.
