#1 Sustainable & Durable Fabric

When buying a new beach towel, you want to look for a fabric that is absorbent, dries quickly, and doesn't get too heavy when wet. Bonus point if it's made from sustainable fabric.

And how does sand free sound to you?

Cotton vs Microfibre

While most beach towels are made from cotton, they do hold sand easily and often don't dry fast and therefore get smelly and heavy. This means they need to be washed often. Cotton towels also frequently pill or have small cotton fibre balls attached to them which can be annoying.

If cotton is your preferred fabric, try and opt for organic cotton as it's grown without harmful chemicals that ultimately contaminate water and soil. Organic cotton also uses far less water to grow since rain is used more often than irrigation.

Or look for a different towel fabric altogether. This is where microfibre comes in.

Our Breathing Travel towels are made from luxe waffle microfibre, in fact, they used to be plastic water bottles!

As we are proudly designed in Australia, a country full of natural beauty, coastal abundance, beaches and the ocean at our doorstep, we made a promise to manufacture with recycled fabrics. This means, we save plastic bottles from landfills and oceans and turn them into our beautiful towels. With your purchase, you are directly helping to clean our planet.

Recycling Plastic Bottles

How does it work you ask? In essence, the plastic bottles are collected, washed, chopped and then melted and spun into our polyester microfibres. Microfibre beach towels are not only more absorbent but also more durable than cotton, they don't shed or pill and will usually last for years when cared for right.

Our Breathing Travel towels are antimicrobial and odourless, so they need to be washed less to further reduce environmental impact. They are also quick dry, just hang them out and they will be dry in no time, no dryer needed!

Best of all, our towels are sand free, you can simply shake the sand off and it won't stick to the fabric. This making them perfect for anything from the beach to pool, travelling, camping, boating, picnics, sports and much more!

#2 Luxe Feel

Nobody likes a paper-thin beach towel that feels sticky and just moves around water and that doesn't actually dry your body. If you're buying your sand free towel online, you might not be able to feel the fabric firsthand.

One of the reasons why people visit our Breathing Travel stall at the local markets is to come to feel the beautiful waffle texture of our towels. We often get surprised reactions and customers telling us how unexpectedly soft and luxurious they feel. Indeed, we do not use sticky suede fibres like other sand free towels in the market.

#3 Style & Colour

We think a beach towel should be functional but also fun and bright, so you can easily spot it on the beach (& show it off).

We have various different towel designs and three sizes for you to choose from.

Our most popular is our Standard Sand Free Towels, which are a full beach towel size 160x80cm. This makes them perfect for lying on the beach, for the pool, travel, yoga, as well as picnics, camping, boating and much more.
