While best known for its theme parks, Disney and Mickey Mouse, there is so much more to see and do in and around Orlando.

Once you have visited your favourite parks, you might be looking for other things to do, so we have compiled a list of great indoor and outdoor activities to keep you busy.

Go on an Airboat Adventure

When I think about Florida, airboats come to mind immediately. And surely, you can glide over the waters of the Florida Everglades just an hour south of Orlando. It might be best to organise an economy car rental in MCO to get around easily.

An airboat usually holds a small group of passengers and will give you an insight into many untouched areas of the Everglades, including its unique wildlife.

Paddle on Lake Eola

Get one of the swan boats and go for a paddle on Lake Eola right in the heart of Orlando.

In case you didn’t know, the lake is home to 5 swan species that keep coming back year after year, so you‘ll likely spot some of those! If you rather stick to land activities, follow the path around the lake, it’s a beautiful free thing to do in Orlando.

Visit Gatorland or Giraffe Ranch

Giraffe ranch

Want to see crocodiles, wild cats, snakes, turtles and more all in one place? Gatorland is one of Orlando’s oldest attractions and a great activity for the whole family.

More into giraffes than reptiles? Giraffe Ranch is a fun place to visit and feed a giraffe. You can even go on safari here or ride a camel.

Climb at Orlando Tree Adventure Park

Get to great heights at the Orlando Tree Adventure Park featuring almost 100 climbing challenges for every skill level. From ropes, swings, ladders to nets, trapezes and much more, this is a cool place to be active in Orlando all day.

Splash About the Inflatable Water Park

What to do on a hot day in Orlando? Head to Aqua Park and conquer the floating obstacles with the whole family. There is a minimum age requirement and you need to be able to swim.

Get Curious at Orlando Science Center

If you’re looking for an indoor activity in Orlando and have a curious nature, Orlando Science Centre is the perfect place to explore the interactive displays, workshops and exhibits when it’s raining.

Pay a Visit to the World of Chocolate Museum

Chocolate Museum Orlando

Do you have a sweet tooth and love chocolate? At The World of Chocolate Museum, you will not only learn where chocolate comes from and how it’s made but you’ll also get the chance to try chocolate from around the world.

There’s even the Paris Eiffel Towel and Londons’ Big Ben to see, entirely made out of chocolate.

Explore ICON Park

Visit ICON Park, an entertainment district housing different attractions, restaurants, and shopping arcades. Orlando Eye will take you high up and give you a real bird’s eye view of the city.

At ICON Park, you can also find SEA LIFE Aquarium with many sea species to meet. The coolest thing here is the 360-degree tunnel which you can walk through while sharks, rays and other ocean animals glide over your head.

Shop Til You Drop At The Outlets

Your Orlando vacation isn’t complete without some shopping! If you like a good deal, visit Orlando Premium Outlets or Lake Buena Vista Factory. Make sure you have enough time as I am sure you’ll easily get sucked into shopping paradise.

Florida Mall is also worth a visit on a hot day when all you need is air conditioning.

Orlando is certainly a city worth visiting, not only for its fun theme parks but for other attractions, including some cool nature experiences and shopping of course.
