Need an excuse to spend the weekend or a few days on the beautiful Gold Coast?

Living on the Gold Coast, I know a thing or two about Surfers Paradise. Read up on all the best things to do in Surfers Paradise while you're here, from beaches to rooftop bars and adrenaline activities.

Where to Stay in Surfers Paradise

gold coast views from surfers paradise over the river

The main street running through Surfers Paradise is Surfers Paradise Blvd. From here you'll find Cavill Avenue, the pedestrian street in the heart of Surfers with shops, restaurants and bars.

Orchid Ave is a side street with more bars and clubs. Finally, you have the Esplanade, which runs along the ocean. Staying along any of those streets will ensure you're in the middle of the action.

Accommodation along the Esplanade tends to be more luxurious apartments with ocean views, while the backpackers are on Beach Road.

I've stayed in a few different hotels and apartments in Surfers over the years, here are my top picks:

  • QT Gold Coast: Best luxury choice in Surfers Paradise. It's outside the main strip but easily walkable, which makes it a great choice for anyone not keen on the grungy party scene of Surfers Paradise.
  • JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa: Resort-style property with a huge pool and garden, on the northern side of Surfers Paradise away from the main street. Great for families with kids.
  • Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise: An iconic tower on the Esplanade with modern 1 to 4-bedroom apartments, perfect for families.
  • The Island Gold Coast: Another one of my favourites, The Island offers modern hotel rooms, perfect for couples and a younger crowd who like to dive into the nightlife while staying in a nice place.
  • voco Gold Coast: Stylish hotel rooms, some with ocean views. I loved my stay at voco and can recommend this 4-star property. Perfect for couples.
  • Mantra Circle on Cavill: Centrally located and only minutes into the action and offers 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, two lagoon-style pools, a gym and free onsite parking.
