Formerly, The Watermark Hotel, voco Gold Coast officially opened its doors in November 2018.
With 389 rooms, the hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Surfers Paradise. I've had the chance to stay here and will share all the insights and highlights on why it's worth booking here.
voco Gold Coast Location
It's right opposite Q1 with its fabulous Sky Point Observation Deck, a tram stop right out front and a short 5 to 10-minute walk to Cavill Mall and Surfers Paradise Beach.
This makes it the perfect place for business, leisure and anyone looking for an upscale stay near the action as well as easy access to the hinterland and adventure activities.

The Rooms At Voco Gold Coast
Arriving into the spacious lobby with its deep blue wall behind the reception, the staff was greeting me with a smile and handed me a delicious shortbread – on the house. They obviously know I like sweets, what a good start to the weekend!

Our car was organised to be parked by the concierge immediately and off we went to level 17, where we stayed in a Deluxe King Ocean view room.
The room was modern, felt very fresh and new and had all the usual mod cons like a flat-screen TV, a refrigerator, mini-bar and the cool air-condition was a nice relief after a hot morning with temperatures hitting 30 degrees.
What I loved most about the room was the little day bed by the window.
From here I could just put my feet up and watch the surrounding skyscrapers and waves crashing on the shore in the distance.
The Facilities At Voco Gold Coast
There are two outdoor swimming pools at voco and a full-service spa called L'Aqua Day Spa, which I imagine could be a wonderful experience (deep-tissue or hot stone massages anyone?) after exploring the city and browsing the shops in Surfers Paradise.
Or how about hitting the gym? I would've definitely used the on-site gym if my stay wasn't on a weekend, but this way I was in relaxation mode and didn't feel like a sweaty workout.
I made a good cup of tea instead. Tea and coffee-making facilities are available in the room.
The Food At Voco Gold Coast
There are 3 restaurants at voco Gold Coast:
- Social House Bar & Loungs, serving tapas-style plates and platters along with cocktails as well as a savoury and sweet breakfast menu with barista-roasted coffee. I personally haven't eaten here, but it looked very welcoming being located right next to the lobby and I glimpsed over while checking in and out of the hotel.
- Waves Buffet, where I had breakfast on Sunday morning. It has a lot of different choices served buffet-style.
- Clifford's Grill & Lounge, an absolute highlight of my stay. Located on the ground floor of the hotel, the restaurant offers tables right at the large open windows looking out onto the street, a prime spot for people-watching! Serving a variety of high-quality modern Australian dishes, the 1 kg grilled T-bone for two definitely hit the spot and I am still raving about eating here days after. I also loved ‘The Dynamic Duo', a cocktail based on white rum infused with watermelon liqueur, lime and mint and for that cocktail alone, I would come back to Clifford's in a heartbeat.
No matter if you are travelling to Surfers Paradise for business or a beach holiday, voco Gold Coast is a great upscale choice in a central location that lets you get around easily by foot, car or tram.
With a comfortable bed to find a restful sleep, beautiful ocean or hinterland views from the rooms and delicious food right at your doorstep, you cannot go wrong with voco Gold Coast when looking for a place to stay in Surfers Paradise.
