Bordered by crystalline beaches and lush tropical rainforest, Noosa is one of the finest resort towns Down Under. The town has a little something for everyone, from natural beauty to glamour.

I like to think about Noosa as “a whole new world” Aladdin and Jasmine sang about – a city that has everything within reach. You can shop in designer boutiques, watch dolphins, surf, hike, etc. If you need any more reasons to visit Noosa, I will give you my lucky seven.

The Weather

During my time in Noosa, I enjoyed the sunny weather so much that I had to share my feelings with everyone. Once, I discussed it with a couple of Noosaites who told me that during the winter months, the temperature gets down to a ‘chilly’ 20 degrees. Imagine that. I would trade my chilly for those 20 degrees any time.

The Noosa National Park

Even if this were to be the only reason for visiting Noosa, it would still be compelling enough. Just in two days of staying in Noosa I have used 8GB of memory on my camera only for taking pictures of the National Park.

The 4000 hectares of the park are filled with all sorts of interesting sights – koalas, possums, swamp orchids, eucalyptus trees, etc. You can walk the coastal track or take a hike inside the forest.

Noosa Main Beach

The most famous beach in Noosa and one of the most popular ones in the whole of Queensland, Noosa Main Beach is sheltered with gentle waves and pleasant temperatures. The sand is clean and soft and the water is amazing.

Because it provides many clean and moderate waves, the Main Beach is great for beginner surfers or an ideal place for not so skillful in water sports, such as myself, to try out a stand up paddleboard or boogie board.

Noosa River

Noosa is much more than a simple beach resort town. It is nice to enjoy all the luxury of the beaches, but sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming. During one of those days when I could not take the sun and the waves, I went to the Noosa River.

There's an idyllic park located just around 20 minutes by foot from bustling city life. The narrow stretch of sand along the length of the river is just perfect to have a small casual picnic while enjoying observing the large pelican population.

The Food

I am one of those people judging a destination based on the food they serve. Well, Noosa made it high on my top list, by having a diverse offer of international and national cuisine.

No matter if you are looking for fine dining or kids-free casual restaurants, you can find everything you desire in Noosa. The best thing is that the majority of restaurants serve fresh locally produced food.

I loved the Gaston restaurant on Hastings Street, but the place is always crowded. Located on the same street, one of the oldest restaurants (still working) in the city, Le Monde is also a chic place to spend your evening. If you prefer something with a bit more attitude and spunk, visit the Bohemian Bungalow or Embassy XO.

The Sunshine Coast Wineries

The Sunshine Coast is also a famous wine region featuring vineyards that produce award-winning wines. Only 10 minutes from Noosa you can find utterly perfect chardonnay, shiraz, merlot, sauvignon blanc, and many other wines.

Barrel tasting in cellar doors made me understand how special a wine can be and the small-boutique vineyards who pick their grapes and hand prune the wines fascinated me with their knowledge and love of wine.

The Festivals

Noosa is home to many community events, so there is no way you will ever be bored. The most popular one is the Food and Wine Festival featuring wines, artisan foods and a range of events organised on Main Beach.

Other interesting events are Noosa Jazz Festival happening in September and the Noosa Festival of Surfing taking place in March.

Let's see if there are reasons enough to make you set your sails toward Noosa. You will not regret it!
