Despite being a fantastic city break destination, there are certain places you do not want to consider when finding the right place to stay in San Francisco. Here are some of them:

Tenderloin – There are some serious reasons why you should avoid this neighbourhood. Tenderloin has higher criminal activity, such as snatching, robbery, and assault, than other areas. So, it’s not the best area to stay in San Francisco.

The Mission – Steer clear of The Mission neighbourhood when thinking about your place to be housed in San Francisco. The Mission district is considered a dangerous neighbourhood and there have been incidents of shooting, which means you should avoid it for the sake of your safety.

Presidio Neighbourhood – The reason you should avoid this neighbourhood is not because of safety reasons but to save yourself from inconvenience. Presidio Neighbourhood is situated significantly out of the way and the commute is long. You won’t be able to fully explore San Francisco if you stay there unless you are specifically looking for a location outside of the centre.

Fisherman’s Wharf – San Francisco Fisherman’s Wharf is undoubtedly a great area to explore. However, it is extremely crowded with tourists. If you don’t feel comfortable amidst intense crowds, you should steer clear of this area.
