Where to Stay In Nha Trang, Vietnam: Best Beach Resorts

Calling all beach bums and sun chasers out there! If you're looking for the perfect beach destination in Vietnam, Nha Trang takes the cake. With white sand beaches, all-inclusive resorts, tropical islands, and a buzzing nightlife, it's definitely one of my favorite spots in Vietnam.

Nha Trang has a laid-back vibe, welcoming all kinds of travelers, from backpackers to families and couples on a relaxing resort vacation or honeymoon, there's something for everyone here.

Nha Trang has so many amazing beaches and areas to choose from, some even located on nearby islands. I know it can be difficult to pick just one, especially with all the great options available. But don't worry, I've got you covered with my guide on where to stay in Nha Trang.

Best areas to stay in Nha Trang, Vietnam

Nha Trang Mainland

When it comes to Nha Trang, the mainland is where most tourists and vacationers usually head to. Here, you'll find the city center and many different beaches with amazing hotels, plenty of shopping, and dinner options. Tran Phu Beach, located right in the center of Nha Trang, is my go-to spot for good nightlife, and it's my top recommendation for anyone visiting for the first time.

Right behind it, we have the Nha Trang city center, which is still within walking distance of the beaches. Here, you'll find most hostels and more affordable accommodation options.

If you're looking for a spot a little further away from the center but not completely out of the action, Hon Chong Beach is just north of the city center and ideal for couples.

Nha Trang Islands

For a slightly different and incredibly exclusive experience, I highly recommend staying just outside of the city. Hon Tre Island is conveniently located right off the coast of Nha Trang and offers a fantastic theme park and numerous family-friendly resorts, making it the perfect destination for families.

And if you're looking for pure seclusion, luxurious accommodations, and the absolute best beaches in the area, then you absolutely must head to Ninh Van Bay, which is situated north of Nha Trang.

1. Where to stay in Nha Trang for the first time & nightlife: Tran Phu Beach

Tran Phu Beach is an amazing spot for a beach vacation in Vietnam! It's right in the heart of Nha Trang, offering beautiful white sand beaches, a wide range of restaurants from cheap eats to fine dining, plenty of hotels, and lots of shopping options.

Plus, you're just a short walk away from other beaches, making it super convenient to explore more of Nha Trang.

For all you thrill seekers out there, Tran Phu Beach is also the ideal spot for any kind of water activity. From jet skiing to surfing and even snorkeling and scuba diving, there are endless ways to stay entertained throughout the day.

Things to see & do in Tran Phu Beach

I wanted to share my recommendation from my last visit. You should definitely check out Kiterabbit Surf School in Nha Trang. They have awesome surfing, kiteboarding, and SUP lessons with amazing instructors, all at affordable prices.

Right next to it is one of my favorite dinner spots in Nha Trang. It's called Sailing Club, and it's perfect after a day of surfing. They serve delicious burgers and steaks and have a great selection of tasty wines.

A little more affordable is the Vinpearl Beachfront Nha Trang. This hotel is located right on the beach, just steps away from some of the best restaurants and bars in town. They have a lovely outdoor pool bar, free Wi-Fi, and even an on-site spa as well.

One of my favorite budget picks in Nha Trang is the Azura Gold Hotel & Apartment. While it's not on the beach, it's still within walking distance of all the best spots. It's a bit more basic than some of the other options, but if you're looking for an affordable option with comfortable beds and clean rooms, this one will definitely do the trick.

2. Where to stay in Nha Trang for families: Hon Tre Island

Let's head over to Hon Tre Island for an amazing family resort vacation! The island is just a quick speed boat ride or a super relaxing cable car journey from the mainland.

Hon Tre Island is home to plenty of stunning beaches and some of the most luxurious resorts in the area. On top of that, you'll find the Vinpearl Amusement Park here, making it a no-brainer when you're looking for a vacation destination with your kids.

On my last visit, I took the cable car over to Hon Tre Island and had so much fun exploring the amusement park. It's totally worth a visit, even if you're not planning to stay here.

Things to see & do in Hon Tre Island

If you have younger kids, I can't stress enough how amazing it is to visit Vinpearl Land!

It's like a Vietnamese Disneyland, with a wide variety of rides, a waterpark, entertaining shows, and delicious restaurants. You can easily spend the entire day there, and if you stay at one of the Vinpearl resorts, you even get a direct transfer to the theme park.

If you're in the mood for some relaxation in the sun, one of the best beaches on the island is Bai Tru Beach! It's got a beautiful white sand beach, crystal clear waters, and best of all, it's usually way less crowded than the beaches near Nha Trang City.

Nha Trang is a fantastic destination for anyone looking to save a couple of dollars. Here, you'll find plenty of affordable hotels, backpacker hostels, and a wide variety of budget-friendly restaurants and street food stalls. 

The best part is that you can enjoy all the action while spending less on accommodation. The night market and the beach are within walking distance as well, adding to the charm of the city center.

I thought Nha Trang City was perfect, especially if you're looking for a little more to your vacation than just laying on the beach. You'll get to explore some museums and have a more authentic experience during your stay.

Nha Trang is definitely one of the most popular beach destinations in Vietnam, but it has so much more to offer, especially in the city center.

If you're looking for a break from the beach, the Khanh Hoa Museum and the Yersin Museum are both fantastic alternatives. 

The city center is the perfect spot to explore some local markets. Don't miss out on Dam Market, where you'll find vendors selling souvenirs, clothes, fresh fruits and veggies, and of course, plenty of mouthwatering street food. Trust me, it's a must-visit if you want to grab a cheap bite or buy some cool souvenirs.

4. Where to stay in Nha Trang for couples & relaxation: Hon Chong Beach

Hon Chong Beach is the perfect spot for some peaceful “me/us time” and relaxation while still being conveniently close to the city center.

Located just north of Nha Trang City, this beach offers a slightly quieter atmosphere compared to the main beach, but you'll still find plenty of eateries, shops, and hotels to enjoy.

The beach itself is also less crowded, with occasional sun beds and umbrellas, as well as friendly vendors offering their goods. It's the ideal place to unwind and enjoy some quality time with your partner.

The rock formations on Hon Hong Beach are the absolute highlight for tourists in the area. You'll find plenty of rocks to climb right on the beach, offering stunning views of the city and the ocean. The fee to enter is incredibly affordable, making it totally worth the little hike. 

When I was in Nha Trang recently, I had the opportunity to join a fantastic Diep Son Island and Doc Let Beach Day Trip. It's an amazing boat trip that takes you to a secluded beach and sandbank.

You can relax on the beautiful white sandy beach and go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters. It's absolutely stunning and a perfect escape from the busy city.

Ninh Van Bay is the perfect destination for an incredible beach experience. Situated across from Nha Trang on a peninsula, this hidden gem can only be accessed by boat.

It's a secluded community with a handful of hotels and restaurants, ensuring an exclusive getaway away from the crowds. 

The pristine, tranquil beaches here are like no other, with beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters. You'll feel like you have the whole place to yourself, except for the other guests staying in one of the bay's amazing hotels. 

Based on my experience, this place is absolutely perfect if you're looking to enjoy some well-deserved relaxation and seclusion.

At Ninh Van Bay, being a cozy hotel community, you'll find most activities happening right at your hotel or being organized by them. But don't worry, all the luxury hotels here do an amazing job of keeping you entertained.
