Bangkok, a bustling city full of life and activity. One of my favourite cities in Southeast Asia actually!

Especially as a traveller, there are just so many things to see in Bangkok, so many places to visit, so many things to do.

Get lost temple hopping, visiting museums, haggling at the many markets, have endless fun with the electrifying nightlife, and who could forget the insane shopping! I'm not at all complaining, but being up adventuring can take a toll on you.

And then all you want to do is end your day with a sumptuous Thai meal (Pad Thai for me please!), a nice view and a refreshing way to beat the heat and sweat of the whole day. How about a cocktails overlooking the rooftops?

Good thing Bangkok's skyline is made up of so many skyscrapers, because that's exactly what you need: an awesome hotel pool sitting on top of one of those high rises. And some of these pools are really to die for.

Best Areas To Stay In Bangkok

If you are unsure where to stay in Bangkok, I recommend the following areas:

#1 Stay at Khao San/Banglamphu Area – the best place to stay in Bangkok for nightlife. Lots of hotels and great for backpackers. Happy hour day and night!

#2 Stay at Bangkok Riverside – the best area for staying at a 5 star hotel in Bangkok. Lots of history and famous landmarks so it's a great area to stay in Bangkok for sightseeing. However, a little away from the main shopping areas and there is no MRT which means you need to go by boat or taxi/tuk tuk.

#3 Stay at Siam – the best location to stay in Bangkok for shopping. Here you'll find the infamous MBK, Siam Center and Siam Paragon which will keep you busy for days. It's in the heart of the city and you can access other parts of Bangkok easily by skytrain.

#4 Stay at Sukhumvit – the best area to stay in Bangkok if you want a bit of everything. Nice restaurants, big shopping malls, markets, bars, hotels for all budgets and a thriving nightlife. Things are quite spread out and it is further to get to the historic parts of Bangkok for sightseeing.

#5 Stay at Silom – the best area to stay for business people in Bangkok. Also boasts a thriving nightlife and centre of the red light district. It's a very accessible area where you can easily walk anywhere but it lacks culture and authenticity.

That’s a ton of hotels with amazing rooftop swimming pools to choose from. Good luck selecting which to enjoy. Whichever you choose though, you'll surely have fun in all of these 14 Bangkok rooftop pools. Take a dip and enjoy the view, perhaps with a cocktail in hand from the near bar. Maybe even have your dinner by the pool. Bangkok will surely delight you from dusk till dawn.

The ibis Styles Bangkok Khao San is a great choice if you want to stay in a convenient location right in the heart of Khao San.

24-hour security, free wifi all throughout and a nice pool will help you relax in this rather busy part of Bangkok.

The hotel is quite new and set on Rambuttri Road, Khao San Roads little sister which is just that little bit quieter but don't mistake, one step outside the hotel door and you're right in the action.

Based in a quiet are away from Khao San Road but close enough to get into the action when you want. It's only a short 10-minute walk to reach the craziness.

From here you can also easily reach the Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the National Museum.

This boutique hotel offers great clean room, beautiful breakfast in the morning and rooftop pool.

#2 Riverside Area

AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel

The sky is the limit with the AVANI Riverside Bangkok Hotel. This sure is a hotel rooftop pool to die for. Perched on the 26th floor, the pool gives you a killer view of the urban landscape of Bangkok and even extends to the Chao Phraya River.

You will love the wooden flooring, the glowing side tables, and especially the sleek white loungers in your hotel room. Guests swear that this is one of the best hotels with rooftop pools in all of Bangkok.

Millennium Hilton Bangkok

Located on the Thonburi side of the Chao Phraya River is the Millennium Hotel Bangkok. The view from the pool is perfect and uninterrupted. You can look down to the Chao Phraya River down below as it curves around the hotel.

Recline on the partially submerged sun beds (yes, that's really a thing!) or take shelter from the heat on one of the shaded daybeds. Enjoy a cool drink after your relaxing dip in the pool.

#3 Siam Area

Sivatel Bangkok

How about swimming among skyscrapers? Intrigued? Make your way to the 8th floor of Sivatel Bangkok where the swimming experience is surreal. Your pool time will be spent surrounding the towering skyscrapers of Bangkok.

The pool is 22 metres long and there is also a pool bar with impeccable service. But what, that's not all.

Sivatel's rooftop pool uses non-irritating salt chlorination system that has little adverse effect to the environment and it is more comfortable to swim in its waters. Check-in and stay at Sivatel Bangkok and simply enjoy this infinity pool in Bangkok.

Siam@Siam Design Hotel

I had the best stay at the beautiful 4.5 star Siam@Siam Boutique Design Hotel right around all the awesome shopping malls in the city.

This unpretentious pool also gives you a view of the stunning green and concrete of Bangkok.

The sun terrace area is the perfect place to get a tan, order a cocktail and chat with other travellers. Check out their adorable half horse-half fish sculptures as it sprouts water into the pool. Stunning views for sunset are guaranteed from up here!

One more sky-high infinity pool is the one on the 24th level of Hotel Indigo Bangkok.

Experience the cityscape view as the colour of the sky changes come the sunset. Recline on the comfy sun beds or on the round cushioned seats.

The Okura Prestige Bangkok

Perched high up on the 25th floor is the thrilling infinity pool of The Okura Prestige Bangkok. I say thrilling because the pool doesn't seem to have an edge and you feel you might just tumble down to the sidewalk.

But no worries, the ledge is just so flawlessly constructed that it is hidden from sight. It makes you say, “Now, that's an infinity pool!”.

Mode Sathorn Hotel

Experience a rejuvenating dip at another Bangkok hotel rooftop pool. At Mode Sathorn Hotel, you will definitely switch to relaxation mode once you are in sight of its lap pool perched on the 11th floor. The turquoise shade of the pool is so inviting, believe me, you just want to dive in.

And the rattan sun beds are pretty comfy too! The pool area has a nice garden vibe with its wooden trellis with hanging vines and the earth-coloured lounges. Did I mention the pool was heated? Yes, heated! Not that you need this very often in Bangkok but kinda awesome, right?
